Despite the prevalence of small businesses in New South Wales, only one-third of these businesses are owned by women. While there is evidence that new small businesses in Australia are increasingly led by women, the number of women-led companies remains significantly lower than that of male-led businesses.
The Supporting Women in Business Grants (SWIB) was established by the NSW Government in 2023.
This program aims to connect women in small businesses and women looking to start a micro or small business with the right resources and support.
Program objective:
Address barriers for women starting or growing a micro or small business by building skills and confidence
Funds projects that provide training, mentoring, networking skills/opportunities, assistance to access finance, and business development support. Grant amounts from $150,000 to $250,000
Projects must be tailored to a nominated Women NSW focus community and its specific needs.
